Trying to bring together ski racing today and yesterday. Following the history of skiing and its legends. How the World Cup has evolved and its venues that have been raced on for nearly 100 years. So there have been some refinements and a little change in speed of the ski racer today. Over 40 years I have installed 3 or 4 generations of safety nets, spent weeks each year on shovel work, miles of nets, fences and dying blue lines at world cup and Olympic race courses. That helps me identify those generational nuisances. Through the half dozen playlists with contributions from every where, thanks to all, Ill try and capture all the new races and I will endeavor to dig into a 50 year CD DVD Blue ray library, 30 years of VHS has been converted.
Skate Hill Ups and downs
Maybe it was Red Bulls fault but if you can learn to skate on a hill you can do anything short of jumping off cliffs.
Skating backwards up a hill is one of the greatest coordination and balance exercise. Power skating up a hill is power.

Thursday night Leafs visiting Calgary. Calgary scores a tying goal with 10 minutes left. The goal is overturned after review based on a Hand Pass from #20 Coleman to #52 Weegar on the point. Tavares and Weegar sticks touch and the puck deflects back to the Flames forward. Leafs Flames: Jan 18 10 min into 3rd period. Refs failed, but the Toronto video coach was paid for his work Video review fai...

My salute to Val Grenier I've played with dual images but this quad image is very educational and is user controlled. You can stop, expand compare and marvel at how Val out skied the top guns on World Cup to kick off the 2024 new year.

WorldCup Championships at Beaver Creek 2015, I was there so were some great Giant Slalom skiers and the Birds of Prey course. Ted Ligehty has some records to set will Marcel get in the way. I've had a sound failure on the last 5 racers. You probably don't need Todd to explain who is winning sorry. Couple of young Canuks had two good runs.

Skate to ski Interlude
Просмотров 136Год назад
Third video in a series of ski instruction videos from the neighborhood skating rink. In two minutes of strong circles I have experienced all the forces of a 800 vertical meter ski run that I would ski at 60 to 70 km. I learned from the repetition of body movement much more about body physics in this controlled environment. I can take this to the mountain.

How to upset the apple cart. You can learn a great deal about skiing from skating. I have incorporated a skating hill and mogul to demonstrate what can be achieved. I think we could start a crushed ice series.

Habt ihr wieder einen Lehrling in die Grafikabteilung eingeschleust 😂Klar, KitzBuhel😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice course but way too short. Missing at least 15-20 sec
Slope is more spectacular than Kitzbühel in the last years.
Wow, thanks for this piece of skiing history. That looks so rough, respect to those athletes. Not to take anything away from today's athletes though, that image of Kilde's leg is going to be imprinted in my memory for a long time.
These announcers are WORLD CLASS! 🎤
A bit too much screaming get us some breaks to enjoy the sound of skiing too.
@@YesSirPhilgood point!
Ill apologize in advance for a couple of audio and video glitches The video has survived several transformations and a year of CW approvs.
Real time comparison of form What's your favorite frame
this slope is cooler than Kitzbühel in my opinion. It's so long and varied
Only lacks the prestige of the Streif

The beautifullest ski dresses of the Swiss team was in that season before they got those silly cheese dresses.

True test aming the elite
Two years later, he (Todd Brooker) had a far more memorable run on this track. Perhaps that event influenced the progress in course preparation.
Yes, but look at the turns above the Hausberg 4 turns now used to be 2. and recently the gates to the right off the Hausberg to slow down the traverse because no matter how hard you try the two ridges and the sidehill of the H kante will never be a smooth ride.
Meno male che l'atleta che è caduto non ha subito nulla di grave
How is it possible to ski dh with this visibility?

1000 feet of total air...wow
In the mid 70’s I taught in St Johann which is almost a sister town to Kitzbuhel. My first winter working there was very little snow. Kitzbuhel had the army by the hundreds trucking in snow and spreading it on the trail.
Thanks for your notes. Just checking early 70s 2 cancellations, 1988 cancel 2005 & 07
Did I hear that spectators threw snowballs at racers. Criminal.
That was a story from 60 years ago, on the road from Steilhang to the top of Alte Schnitzel sp. Only at the Swiss
I’ve skied all my life, taught skiing in Canada, USA and Austria, great way to spend my 20’s. I skied the Hannenkam trail. Even as an experience skier it was an adventure. I can’t imaging skiing it at those speeds. These athletes are completely exceptional.
I have commented that the most important skiing muscle in your body gets a great workout skating circles. The inside thigh does a lot of work when your speed and g forces increase. You can achieve a similar strength training on the ski hill by side stepping up a hill with skis on. It takes a lot of steps, your challenge.
Thanks for posting this!
Quanto caz vanno veloci le seggiovie ??

2021, the year politicians made you wear a mask, and nobody said no. Sheep.
My two bits, skating up a hill is the best excersise. Skate to ski. Every turn is managing rotation, a little femur a little waist counter rotation.
great stuff! Thanks for posting😀
This is the climate change schedule. The Cowboys are skiing well.
great 👍
Just subscribed and truly enjoyed the Parker Ridge " Totem Cup " footage . Can you please make this shareable on Facebook ? Myself and others have enjoyed participating in this event ( 90's ) . Rob Tooke still continues the tradition . Thank you for this channel and content .
I'll post this on Wendy Lumby's Alpine page thanks for the comments.

Cracking race. Such exuberance! If Sofia reclaims her GS chops, she's back in the overall title hunt. Odd that she was 3d in GS for 2017; never above 13th before or since.
21:23, interesting that jump is manufactured.
All alpine ski jumps are manufactured a little bit. Many of the sharp roles need some prep so the jump is manageable or the impression of having lots of little air spots is good DH. All the bigger jumps are built with a big pile of snow and a snow cat.
AH-HA! British record holder....that's like the Jamaican bobsled team, lol.
David Ryding won the Kitzbuhel slalom this year
I'm advocating what has always been described as knee angulation is in fact the femur moving freely in the pelvis. This skiing fundamental is supported by the human anatomy. Knee angulation looks good sounds good but it represents the greatest force on one of the weakest body parts. Nothing has to change in your skiing except the concept, your muscles have always been doing the right thing we have just been mislabeling it. Properly describing this edging action will help you make better movements and stay more relaxed.
The skating backwards up a hill will become a new fitness trend.
Still have Andy Luhn's bib and a gate flag . A great time to be a course worker .
I was there , thanks for the upload . Keep them coming !
Reto Barrington was rallying course workers for 88. This was our course This might have been O z first safety setup
Reto is a legend . 1972 Sapporo Olympian . Now, a massive developer in the real estate market . A true tragedy for us Fernie locals.

I thought this had a bit of art to it. Some Slalom rhythm. Didn't trip over the shadow of the leash
Why is there a rooster sound @36:00? Who inserted The Sims audio? Lol
It was pretty noisy during that run. We here course radio, PA and announcers. this was the raw broadcast.

I don't suppose you remember Trumps passing a quiz that was determining if he was senile He thought it was an IQ test. Can we have this conversation somewhere else.
Hey! So I cannot remember which two winters I visited from Vail, to see two Aspen Downhill races. Either in 1982 & 83, or 1983 & 84... but I went with a date (different one each year), and our highlight (each year!) was breakfast at the Hotel Jerome ~ next to Goldie Hawn (and Kurt, plus six friends) ❤️❤️🎯
Brave, gutsy racers on a mind blowingly long& reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly fast course. Much Respect.
many thanks for another presentation of this high performance speed event. great commentary and photography. and now, one of the most heavily worked and prepared courses. bravo!!! what speed!!!
We'll pass that on to the ROC thank you, how about today's race. Kilde and Johan.
